Nicole Poole currently earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Art History and Criticism at the University of Texas at San Antonio.  She has been a recipient of the Mellon Humanities Pathways Fellowship as well as the Elton Smith Memorial Endowed Scholarship in Art and the Gloria Galt Endowed Scholarship in Art.  Poole has exhibited her work in several group exhibitions including the San Antonio Art League Museum and Common Currents: Artists Explore 300 Years of San Antonio. Poole’s work was selected for UTSA’s Juried Student Exhibition for three consecutive years.

Nicole’s studio practice concentrates on themes of absence and presence that are connected to her memories and experience.  With an aesthetic that is rooted in modernism her work is at the same time clinical and personal, precise and handmade. Also in the tradition of conceptual art, the materials that she uses carry meaning.  She has recently become interested in family histories and how individual families effect the larger community. To explore these themes, she creates site-specific installations, paintings and sculpture.
